TERMS OF USE
The ground rules.
These terms explain how you may use Home Cinema Advisor. We have kept them short and in plain language. Last updated 5 October 2026.
1. Using the site
By using homecinemaadvisor.com (the “site”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. The site is run by an independent publisher (“we”, “us”). Most of the site works without an account.
2. Information, not advice
Everything here is general information and inspiration. Release dates, where-to-watch availability, prices and technical specifications come from third parties and change often, so confirm them with the cinema, service or seller. The design studio and Ask the Advisor give estimates and suggestions only. They are not professional acoustic, electrical, structural, safety or installation advice, and you use them at your own judgement and risk.
3. Accounts
You can create an account with your email address; we send a sign-in link and there is no password. How we handle your email address is explained in the privacy notice. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age at which you can agree to these terms where you live if that is higher. Keep access to your email private, give us accurate information, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time on the account page.
4. Ask the Advisor and other AI features
Replies are written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. What you type, and the room or sound-system details you give, are sent to Anthropic to produce the reply, as the privacy notice explains. Replies can be incomplete or wrong, and they are not a promise or a recommendation to buy anything. Please do not put sensitive personal information into questions. We limit how often each visitor can use AI features and may change, pause or remove them at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Please do not: break or probe the site's security; overload it or use bots, scrapers or other automated means to copy it or to use AI features at scale; copy the site's text, design or code to republish them; attempt to access other people's accounts or data; or use the site for anything unlawful. We may limit or block access to protect the site and its visitors.
6. Content and ownership
The site's design, text, code, logos and original articles belong to us or our licensors, and you may use them for your own personal, non-commercial viewing. Film and series information and artwork come from TMDB, availability data from JustWatch, and photographs in the Journal from credited sources; those, and all film, service and equipment names and trademarks, belong to their owners and appear only to identify them. What you save (your list, playlists, alerts and studio designs) stays yours; you let us store and process it to run the service for you.
7. Links to other sites
We link to streaming services, trailers, stores and other sites we do not control, and we are not responsible for them or for what they offer. If we ever add links that earn us a commission, we will say so clearly next to them.
8. The service as it is
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. It may change, be interrupted, or be closed, and we may add or remove features. We may change these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
9. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost data or profits, or for decisions you make on the basis of information, estimates or AI replies on the site, and our total liability for anything arising from using the site is limited to the amount you have paid us for it (currently nothing). Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be limited, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law that applies to the operator of Home Cinema Advisor, and disputes about the site are for the courts with jurisdiction under that law, without taking away any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
11. Privacy and contact
How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy notice. Questions about these terms: see the contact page.
